Transformation
Swollen face. Tears
like hot glue. All these days
stuck wet to the skin.
My life is an arrow pointed
at the dusk-blue sky
and the dusk-blue sky is an arrow
pointed back at me. A bird sings.
I say things that may not be true.
A man in an orange vest jackhammers
the hell out of the concrete parking lot
outside my therapist’s office as I sob.
He jackhammers the hell out of it.
