“Joshua” by Vanessa Rose

an ancient slain truth
the begotten tree root

i see Joshua for days
i see Joshua in a haze

dancing to the rhythm
one which every life is given

their hands they all raise
chanting silent praise

a soul that will last
from the depths of one’s past

an eternal trance
given second chance

reincarnated leaves
carried off with the bees

we sing Joshua’s song
but, it won’t echo for very long

for the skulls wither under
with the rumbling of thunder

and the 49 palms weep
for the secrets they hold deep.
